RAND Experts Available to Discuss Impact of Sunday's House Vote on Future of Nation's Health System
Experts from RAND Health are available to discuss the impact of Sunday's House vote on the nation's health care system.
RAND conducted independent evaluations of health care reform plans passed by the Senate and House, and one proposed by President Obama in advance of the Blair House summit. The work was done as a part of an initiative called COMPARE (Comprehensive Assessment of Reform Efforts) that was organized to help policymakers and others navigate the complex nature of health care reform. Results of COMPARE analyses can be found at www.randcompare.org. The site provides: syntheses of what is known about the current heath care system, information on proposals to modify the system and insights about how potential policy changes are likely to affect health care delivery and costs in the United States.
RAND experts available to comment include:
Elizabeth A. McGlynn — associate director of RAND Health and co-leader of the COMPARE project. She headed the RAND critique of various health reform plans.
Jeffrey Wasserman — senior policy researcher and co-leader of COMPARE. He has studied public health systems and state-level health care reform.
Christine Eibner — health economist who has studied strategies to contain health spending and the economic burden that providing health insurance puts upon small businesses. She has led projects examining recent health reform efforts in Massachusetts.
Jeanne Ringel — health economist and member of the RAND COMPARE team.
Federico Girosi — senior policy researcher and director of RAND COMPARE modeling team. He is an expert on how to estimate the impacts of proposed health care plans.
