RAND Experts Available to Discuss Afghanistan Assessment
RAND experts on Afghanistan and Pakistan are available for interviews on President Obama's year-end assessment of the war in Afghanistan:
Amb. James Dobbins is director of the International Security and Defense Policy Center at RAND, and was the Bush administration's representative to the Afghan opposition in 2001. He is the author of "After the Taliban: Nation-Building in Afghanistan."
Nora Bensahel is a RAND senior political scientist specializing in stability operations, counterinsurgency, interagency coordination, and multilateral military operations in Afghanistan and Iraq. She is the lead author of "Improving Capacity for Stabilization and Reconstruction Operations."
Arturo Munoz is a RAND senior political scientist focusing on insurgency, counterinsurgency, terrorism, and psychological operations in Afghanistan. Before joining RAND in 2009, he served 29 years in the Directorate of Operations and in the Directorate of Intelligence at the CIA.
Ben Connable is a RAND international policy analyst focusing on Afghanistan and Iraq, and is a former Marine intelligence officer and Middle East foreign area officer. He is the co-author of "How Insurgencies End."
