Amb. James Dobbins is a director of the RAND International Security and Defense Policy Center.
Alireza Nader is an international policy analyst and the lead author of "The Next Supreme Leader: Succession in the Islamic Republic of Iran." His research has focused on Iran's political dynamics, elite decision-making, and Iranian foreign policy.
Frederic Wehrey is a senior policy analyst at the RAND Corporation. His research focuses on Persian Gulf security, Iran, Libya, civil-military relations, and U.S. policy in the Middle East. He is the lead author of "Dangerous But Not Omnipotent: Exploring the Reach and Limitations of Iranian Power in the Middle East."
Jeffrey Martini is a Middle East research project associate at the RAND Corporation, where he works on political reform in the Arab world with a specific focus on North Africa. Martini has published on civil-military relations in Egypt, internal dynamics within the Muslim Brotherhood, changes in the regional security environment, and new trends in Arabic language media.
